President Ruto Criticizes UN Over Africa's Security Council Exclusion

Kenyan President William Ruto criticized the United Nations (UN) during the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York, accusing the global body of sidelining Africa in crucial decisions on peace, security, and development. Ruto highlighted Africa's absence from permanent membership in the UN Security Council, stating that it undermines the organization's credibility and disregards the voices of the 54 African nations.

He emphasized that Africa plays a significant role in global peace and security, contributing the largest UN peacekeeping contingent and bearing substantial costs of instability. Ruto called for Africa to have a more prominent role in global governance decisions related to peace, security, and development.
