Tinubu Initiates Investigation into Minna Detainee Deaths

President Tinubu has mandated a comprehensive investigation into the reported deaths of detainees in Minna, as stated by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga. The President expressed that every Nigerian's life is valuable and that no individual should die in government custody due to negligence or mistreatment.

He described the situation as serious and requiring urgent attention. The investigation will examine the circumstances surrounding the arrests, the conditions of the detainees, the number of individuals held, the medical care provided, and the events leading to their deaths.

President Tinubu instructed the Ministry of Interior and the leadership of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to fully cooperate with investigative authorities and ensure no interference occurs during the process. He extended condolences to the families of the deceased and urged calm among affected communities, assuring that the Federal Government would seek the truth and take appropriate actions based on credible evidence.
