President Tinubu Reconstitutes HYREP’s Governing Council, Board Of Trustees

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reconstituted the Governing Council and Board of Trustees of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYREP) on August 12. The Minister of Environment will serve as the Chairman of the Council, with members including Loanyie Barituka Victor representing organizations focused on the environment.

The new Council comprises nine states and two representatives, with Gideon Onyebuwa Melfor and Dr. Ibikunle Omotehinse as alternative members.

The Board of Trustees includes Emmanuel Nwiika Deeyah as the chairman, Fred Mbombo Igwe, and Dr. Fred Barivule Kpakol representing the Ogoni community stakeholders.

President Tinubu also appointed members to represent the Niger Delta community and NGOs dealing with environmental issues. The reconstitution aims to enhance the effectiveness of HYREP in addressing pollution in the region.
