President Tinubu’s Salary: How Much Nigerian President and Ministers Earn Every Month

The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has initiated a review of the salaries of Nigerian political office holders, including President Tinubu. The RMAFC Chairman, Mohammed Shehu, stated that the current salaries are small, unrealistic, and outdated, considering the country's economic challenges and growing responsibilities.

President Tinubu earns approximately 977 million naira monthly, while ministers receive less. Shehu criticized the disparity in earnings, noting that the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria earns ten times more than the President.

The last comprehensive review of the revenue allocation formula was conducted in 1992, with minor adjustments in 2002. The current review aims to produce a fair and equitable formula that reflects the evolving political landscape and increased responsibilities of the three tiers of government.

The announcement has drawn mixed reactions from Nigerians, with some questioning the rationale behind increasing politicians' salaries, while others see it as a necessary reform to enhance accountability and performance.
