NNCYA Urges Christian Leaders to Promote Peaceful Dialogue

The Northern Nigeria Christian Youth Association (NNCYA) issued a statement on Monday, signed by National Secretary Bason Sunday and National Publicity Secretary Pastor Ruth Wada, urging Christian leaders to avoid public comments that may heighten political tensions after private meetings with President Bola Tinubu. The association emphasized that discussions with the President should foster peace, national unity, and meaningful dialogue rather than controversy.

This statement was a response to comments following a recent meeting between President Tinubu and the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria. The NNCYA expressed respect for Christian leaders, including Cardinal John Onaiyekan, and cautioned that public statements should consider the country's stability.

They described access to the President as a "sacred trust" meant for dialogue and counsel, warning against portraying him as indifferent to Nigeria's security and economic challenges. The NNCYA called for unity among Christian leaders and urged citizens to pray for those in authority while promoting national healing and development.
