FG Urges New Medical Directors to Prioritize Patient Care

The Federal Government of Nigeria has issued a directive to newly appointed medical directors to prioritize patient care and prevent industrial disputes that could disrupt healthcare services across the country. This directive was communicated in a statement released on Saturday by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, signed by Dr.

Iziak Salako, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare. The new appointees were encouraged to stay informed about government policies and maintain open communication with health worker unions to resolve issues through early dialogue.

Dr. Salako warned against denying patients access to care and disclosed the establishment of a task force to improve patient safety and feedback mechanisms.

He also urged the new appointees to justify their confidence in the government and highlighted the need for a faster recruitment process for medical directors. The statement reflects ongoing challenges in Nigeria's public health sector, including frequent strikes linked to welfare concerns and poor working conditions.
