Princewill Akpan Wins 2026 Ibom Open Golf Tournament

Princewill Akpan emerged as the champion of the 2026 Ibom Open Golf Tournament, which took place over three days in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, involving 350 golfers from Nigeria and several African countries. Akpan, playing off a handicap of 16, returned an impressive net score of 67, defeating a strong field to lift the coveted trophy.

His victory earned him a return air ticket to a destination of his choice, courtesy of Uganda Airlines. A total of 159 golfers made the cut for the championship round, held at the prestigious Ibom Golf Course, recognized as one of the finest golf facilities in West Africa.

The tournament was sponsored by Afrika 25 and attracted prominent figures, including former Kogi State Governor Idri Wada and Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Dr. Anieti Udofia, who reaffirmed the government's commitment to sustaining the Ibom Golf Resort.

Other winners included Tajudeen Saka from Eleph Cement Golf Club in the super veteran category and Nwachukwu Nduka from Ibom Golf Club in the veteran category.
