Call for Probe into Solomon Dalung's Tenure as Sports Minister

Alhaji Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe, the former chairman of the Gombe State Football Association, has called for an investigation into Solomon Dalung, the former Minister of Sports, by the federal government and relevant security agencies. This request follows Dalung's public criticisms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, which he has described as "grossly incompetent, corrupt and useless." Gara Gombe characterized Dalung's remarks as "reckless," citing his own alleged mismanagement during his ministerial tenure, which included sending Nigerian athletes to the Rio Olympics without proper kits.

He urged the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Nigeria Police Force, and Department of State Services to investigate Dalung, particularly regarding a $300,000 loan from Yomi Idowu for the Dream Team during the 2016 Olympics. Additionally, he raised concerns about Dalung's handling of the National Stadium in Lagos, questioning a promised renovation project and the legitimacy of a letter from the Presidency that allegedly halted it.
