Leke Abejide Resigns from ADC Amid Internal Conflicts

Leke Abejide, representing the Yagba Federal Constituency, announced his resignation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) citing internal wrangling and allegations of party hijacking. He described his decision as difficult yet unavoidable, attributing blame to unnamed actors destabilizing the party.

Abejide has filed a lawsuit in August 2025 against notable party figures, including former Senate President David Mark and ex-Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, alleging irregularities in the party's leadership structure. He noted that the situation coincides with the release of the 2027 electoral timetable by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which has created uncertainty regarding candidacy.

Abejide emphasized the ADC's lack of valid leadership and the need to seek alternative platforms. He clarified that he voluntarily left the party in accordance with constitutional provisions and expressed gratitude for the support from Kogi State, reaffirming his commitment to pursue political stability.
