Protests at Ministry of Works Over Umahi's Debt Allegations

On Wednesday, protests occurred at the Ministry of Works headquarters in Abuja, where demonstrators demanded accountability from Minister David Umahi regarding allegations of unpaid debts. The protests were sparked by claims from businesswoman Nicola Ohiri, who alleges that Umahi owes her 250 million Naira related to a service agreement dating back several years.

The situation escalated as protesters, fearing police intervention, wore protective gear. Activists, including Omoyele Sowore, condemned the police's involvement, arguing that the debt dispute should be resolved in civil court rather than through police action.

The protests also highlighted broader grievances against the minister, with calls for him to resign. As of the time of reporting, the Ministry of Works had not commented on the protests or the allegations against Umahi.
