Nasarawa Residents Protest Poor Power Supply Issues

On a recent date, residents of Nasarawa State protested against poor power supply, highlighting the dilapidated infrastructure and inadequate maintenance as primary causes of frequent blackouts that disrupt daily life. The protest was led by Ibrahim Abdullahi Attama, who appealed to state authorities for a comprehensive audit of the power infrastructure and to liaise with the federal power agency to secure sufficient electricity allocation for the state.

Attama emphasized that the situation has reached a critical point, significantly impeding business operations, educational activities, healthcare services, and overall quality of life for residents. He pointed out the glaring absence of routine preventive maintenance on existing power facilities, which often leads to prolonged outages.

The protestors demanded that the government enforce a regular maintenance schedule and expedite the replacement of faulty equipment, particularly worn transformers, to restore a reliable power network. Attama warned that unless decisive action is taken, protests will continue, as the current power allocation in Nasarawa State is grossly insufficient to meet demand.
