Protesters Demand Expulsion of Bullies in Edo School

Protesters gathered at the Igbinedion Educational Centre in Benin City, Edo, demanding the expulsion of students involved in a bullying incident that surfaced in a viral video. The video depicted a student being beaten and kicked by supposed senior students within the school premises.

Security measures were heightened around the school to prevent the protest from entering the premises. School personnel attempted to calm the protesters, explaining that the students involved had already been suspended.

The top management of the school, who spoke anonymously, described the incident as unfortunate and assured that necessary steps would be taken to address the situation. The Edo State Ministry of Education, represented by Permanent Secretary Edith Ebomoyi, condemned the violent act, stating that such behavior is unacceptable and contrary to the values of discipline, respect, and safety expected in schools across Edo State.
