Protest Erupts at Edo School Over Bullying Incident

Protesters gathered at Igbinedion Education Centre in Edo State to express their displeasure over a bullying incident that went viral, showing a student being beaten and kicked by supposed senior students. The school management identified the students involved and suspended them.

However, security was heightened around the school to prevent protesters from entering the premises. The Edo State Ministry of Education, represented by Permanent Secretary Edith Ebomoyi, condemned the violent act, stating it was completely unacceptable and contrary to the values of discipline and safety expected in educational institutions.

The ministry emphasized that the school must uphold these values and that such incidents should not recur. Protesters carried placards demanding the expulsion of the students involved in the bullying and sought clarity on the school's investigation into the matter.

The incident has raised significant societal concern regarding bullying in schools.
