PRP Postpones Edo Congress Amid Voter Register Dispute

The People's Redemption Party (PRP) has announced the indefinite postponement of its state congress in Edo, originally scheduled for Saturday at 2 PM, due to a crisis surrounding the voters' register. This situation has exacerbated existing divisions within the party, leading to a split into two factions.

Disagreements arose over the method of conducting the congress, with some members advocating for a direct congress while others preferred an indirect process. The party's electoral committee chairman, Yakubu Paul, made the announcement to postpone the congress to allow for proper preparations amid escalating tensions.

While state chairman Greg Igbinomwanya insisted that 344 individuals were captured in the party's register as eligible to vote, Yakubu Paul rejected this claim, alleging manipulation of the register. Spokesperson for aggrieved members, Adam Erunmwuns, accused the party leadership of losing credibility in an attempt to influence the process and retain control.

Igbinomwanya dismissed these allegations, asserting the authenticity of the party's register.
