Nigerian Police Service Commission Promotes AIG to DIG, Elevates 26,119 Inspectors

The Police Service Commission (PSC) in Nigeria has announced the promotion of AIG Adegboye to DIG, two CPs to AIGs, and the elevation of 26,119 inspectors and assistant superintendents of police II. The promotions were approved during the PSC's 3rd plenary meeting held on January 29, 2026, under the chairmanship of DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (rtd).

AIG Funsho Adegboy's promotion to DIG was based on his extensive experience in operational training and administration, having served in critical departments and held command positions. The PSC also approved the promotion of 26,119 inspectors and ASP IIs based on their outstanding performance in recent departmental selection board examinations.

The PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu, commended the diligence of the committee led by DIG Dr. Taiwo Lakanu (rtd) in ensuring a thorough promotion process.
