PSC Unveils New Portal To Decentralise Police Recruitment

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has introduced a new recruitment portal to decentralize the hiring of police officers, aiming to enhance transparency in the process. The portal will also be utilized for recruiting PSC personnel and will be accessible to key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Federal Character Commission.

This move is part of efforts to curb corruption and nepotism within the recruitment process. The initiative follows a consultative meeting in Abuja, where it was decided that state representatives will play a greater role in the 2025 recruitment exercise.

This marks the first time that recruitment officers from across the country will be formally engaged in planning and executing the process. PSC Chairman, retired Deputy Police Hashimu Argungu, emphasized that involving state desk officers will ensure that the interests of all parties are protected.

The Commission is committed to building a police force that the nation can be proud of, with recruitment processes that are efficient, transparent, accountable, and equitable.
