PTDF Screens 1,200 Candidates for Overseas Scholarships

The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) has commenced a nationwide screening process for its 2026/2027 overseas scholarship scheme, evaluating over 1,200 candidates from the South-South and South-West regions. The screening, led by Deputy Manager Peter Egheneji at the Port Harcourt center, aims to select qualified candidates who can contribute meaningfully to Nigeria's oil and gas industry.

The candidates include 503 applicants for master's degrees and 243 for PhD programs. The selection criteria focus on academic background and relevance to Nigeria's oil and gas operations.

Egheneji emphasized that the fully funded scholarships are not avenues for migration, as beneficiaries are required to return to Nigeria after their studies. The screening process also involved a panel led by Prof.

Godwin Chukwu, who noted the importance of the scheme in addressing financial constraints for outstanding students. Bolanle Agboola reported that the fund received 38,399 applications, underscoring the competitive nature of the selection process.
