PTDF Warns Scholarship Candidates Against Absconding

The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) has issued a warning to scholars regarding the risks of absconding abroad, commonly referred to as 'Japa'. This warning comes as part of the screening process for 743 candidates shortlisted for the 2026/2027 overseas scholarship exercise, which took place at the PTDF Centre for Skill Development and Training in Obio Akpor, Rivers State.

Peter Egheneji, the Deputy Manager and Team Lead at the Port Harcourt Centre, emphasized that candidates must sign a bond committing to return to Nigeria after completing their studies. The screening process, which began on Tuesday and is set to conclude next week, included 503 master's and 240 PhD candidates.
