British High Commission in Nigeria to Close for Eid al-Mawlud

The British High Commission in Nigeria will be closed on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, to observe the Eid al-Mawlud public holiday, which celebrates the birth of the Prophet Muhammad. This announcement was made via the official UK in Nigeria account on X, confirming that no official activities will take place at the High Commission on that day.

The mission expressed its recognition of the occasion by wishing those celebrating a "Mawlud Mubarak." Nigerians who have scheduled appointments or plans to visit the High Commission on that date are advised to make alternative arrangements, as the building will not be open for business. Additionally, the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Nigeria announced that its Migration Health Assessment Centres in Lagos and Benin City will also be closed on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, for the same holiday, advising migrants and stakeholders to plan accordingly.
