Kano ATWAP Raises Sachet Water Prices Amid Rising Costs

The Kano State chapter of the Association of Table Water Producers (ATWAP), led by Chairman Ahmad Bala Hudu, has announced an upward review of the price of sachet water, commonly known as pure water. The price will increase from N220 to a minimum of N300 per bag.

This decision, communicated by Public Relations Officer Idris Hassan, is attributed to unsustainable increases in the costs of essential production materials, which have risen by two-thirds. The cost of packaging film has climbed to N3,700, while fuel prices have reached N1,500 per liter.

The association noted that the persistent lack of stable electricity has forced factories to rely heavily on generators, further increasing operational expenses. Hudu emphasized that this price adjustment is a last resort to ensure the continued availability of safe drinking water in the state.

He also warned producers against compromising water quality and stressed the importance of maintaining strict purification standards. The association plans to work closely with health authorities to inspect production facilities across the state.
