Nigerian Weightlifter Lawal Makes History with Three Silver Medals at World Championships

Nigerian weightlifting sensation, Rafiatu Folashade Lawal, made history by winning three silver medals at the 2025 International Weightlifting Federation World Championships in Forde, Norway. Competing in the women's 58kg category, Lawal lifted 101kg in snatch, 128kg in clean and jerk, totaling 229kg.

This achievement follows her previous successes at the 2019 and 2023 African Games and the 2022 Commonwealth Games. The NSC Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, praised Lawal's dedication and resilience, highlighting her consistency since the 2019 African Games.

The Nigerian Weightlifting Federation and NSC pledged continued support for Lawal and other athletes. Lawal's performance showcases Nigeria's talent on the world stage and emphasizes the importance of hard work and support in sports development.
