Nigerian Rail Freight Reaches 62,840 Tonnes in Q4 2025

In the fourth quarter of 2025, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) reported a total freight movement of 62,840 metric tons across its rail network. This included operations on both standard gauge and narrow gauge lines, with 61 movements recorded on the standard gauge corridor and five on the narrow gauge network.

Notable freight services included Ajuba Container, Starlink, APM Terminal, Diamond Star, and CCECC, with Ajuba Container recording 11 freight movements, Starlink also recording 11, and Diamond Star recording 12 movements during the quarter. The report highlighted that standard gauge services accounted for the bulk of the freight, moving 60,280 metric tons, while narrow gauge operations accounted for 2,560 metric tons.

The report emphasized the increasing reliance on the standard gauge network, reflecting ongoing government investments in rail infrastructure aimed at enhancing cargo capacity and logistical efficiency across Nigeria.
