Rainbow Coalition to Select Rivers State Candidate for 2027

Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, stated that the Rainbow Coalition, which includes the People's Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), and Action Alliance (AA), will collectively choose a single candidate for the governorship election in Rivers State for the 2027 general elections. During a luncheon in Port Harcourt, Wike dismissed rumors about individuals already securing tickets, labeling such claims as premature and potentially undermining the coalition process.

He urged candidates from the four parties to focus on grassroots mobilization until a unified decision is made. Wike also expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and criticized smaller political parties, asserting that they cannot replace established electoral structures.

He emphasized the need for unity among political factions in Rivers State to effectively address the region's political tensions and development needs.
