Rainstorm in Kaduna Claims Two Lives, Destroys Homes

A devastating rainstorm struck Dokan Mai Jama in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Monday, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and the destruction of 50 homes. The storm, which began at 6:41 PM and lasted for approximately 40 minutes, was accompanied by heavy rainfall and strong winds.

Alhaji Hamisu Tukur, the village head, confirmed the incident, stating that the storm displaced several residents and caused widespread destruction. Many families were rendered homeless, struggling to salvage belongings from the debris of their destroyed homes.

The impact of the storm left some houses completely flattened, with roofs blown off, exposing occupants to harsh weather conditions. Residents were seen making frantic efforts to secure temporary shelter.

Victims of the storm have appealed to the Kaduna State Government and the National Emergency Management Agency, as well as the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency, for urgent intervention to assist those affected.
