Rangers FC Rejects NPFL Charges as False and Baseless

Rangers International FC, the current champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), has formally rejected charges from the league board concerning alleged breaches of league framework during their last match against Barau FC in Enugu on Sunday. The club was fined N4 million and ordered to play their last two home matches behind closed doors due to claims of inadequate security and misconduct by supporters, which allegedly led to harassment of match officials.

Amobi Ezeaku, the club's General Manager, characterized the charges as false, defamatory, exaggerated, and baseless, asserting that they misrepresent the facts. In a letter to the NPFL's Chief Operating Officer, Ezeaku stated that the club had implemented robust security arrangements, including the deployment of 150 trained stewards and 100 police personnel, exceeding the standard matchday requirements.

He emphasized that there was no harassment of match officials and that the club possesses video evidence to support their claims. Rangers, currently leading the NPFL table, will face Niger Tornadoes on Sunday.
