RCCG Donates $265,854 for Evacuation of Nigerians from South Africa

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), led by Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has donated $265,854 to assist in the evacuation of 500 distressed Nigerians from South Africa, where they face xenophobic and Afrophobic attacks. The donation will fund one-way flight tickets for those wishing to return home.

The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and spokesperson Oluwafemi Adeniyi, commended this gesture as a significant demonstration of compassion and solidarity. The government initiated the latest evacuation exercise on June 10, 2026, following renewed xenophobic violence.

So far, 1,640 Nigerians have been evacuated, with 1,385 funded by the government and 255 through philanthropic donations. Currently, 202 Nigerians await final screening by South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs.

The Nigerian diplomatic missions in South Africa continue to assist citizens wishing to return, and the government is committed to addressing the ongoing issues of xenophobia affecting Nigerians.
