RCDI Enhances Water and Hygiene Initiatives in Nigeria

The Rural Community Development Initiative (RCDI) has expanded its efforts in water, hygiene, and climate action across Nigeria, particularly targeting vulnerable populations. During a review period from January to June 2026, RCDI's Executive Director, Mr.

Minit Okoroh Oviaesu, highlighted significant achievements, including the rehabilitation of community boreholes in the Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This initiative coincided with World Water Day 2026, aimed at restoring access to safe and reliable water for residents struggling to obtain clean water.

RCDI distributed water treatment products and conducted hygiene awareness campaigns to educate households on safe water handling and storage practices. Additionally, RCDI participated in a public sensitization campaign organized by the Federal Ministry of Water Resources.

The organization also intensified efforts to combat period poverty and promote menstrual dignity through various initiatives, including a commemorative event for Menstrual Hygiene Day in Kwali, which brought together women, adolescent girls, and local stakeholders to discuss menstrual health challenges.
