Video of Kidnappers Assaulting Unijos Graduate Goes Viral

A disturbing video showing the assault of Arum, a recent graduate from the University of Jos, has circulated widely, prompting significant public reaction. Arum was kidnapped along the Kaduna highway, with the abductors demanding a ransom of N30 million.

The footage, recorded on Arum's mobile phone, depicts him face down, beaten by two kidnappers. His employer, Mr. Jethro Akau, described Arum as a hardworking technician who had just completed his studies and was awaiting mobilization for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

On the day of his abduction, Arum was en route to Kaduna to fix a malfunctioning music equipment when his phone was switched off. His elder brother later informed the family of the kidnapping.

Akau expressed deep anguish over the incident, emphasizing the trust and reliance placed on Arum, and lamented the cruel treatment he has received, highlighting the impact on the young man's future.
