Kwankwaso Explains Decision to Join Obi as Running Mate

Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the vice-presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress, stated that his decision to partner with Mr. Peter Obi for the 2027 election is rooted in national balance, equity, and the pursuit of democratic change. During an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja, Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, reflected on his experiences from the 2023 election, which helped him understand Obi better.

He emphasized the importance of allowing the South to retain the presidency for another term following the eight-year tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari. His decision was made after consultations with the Kwankwasiyya Movement, supporters of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, and the Obidient Movement, all of which advocated for a balanced ticket appealing to both Northern and Southern voters.

Kwankwaso expressed concerns over security challenges, declining agricultural productivity, and deteriorating infrastructure, asserting that the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket would offer credibility, competence, and empathy for the suffering populace.
