Borno Lawmaker Clarifies Viral Tearful Video Incident

A Borno lawmaker, represented by Dr. Babakura Bukar, issued a press statement addressing a viral video that showed him shedding tears.

He urged the public to disregard misleading media reports circulating online. The lawmaker explained that his emotional reaction was due to the surprise contributions from approximately 100 constituents, primarily vulnerable individuals, who expressed interest in purchasing his nomination form for the 2027 elections.

He emphasized that he is not disappointed or grieving but rather appreciative of the trust and solidarity shown by his constituents. The lawmaker also noted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has not yet chosen candidates for the upcoming elections, and he denied any claims of being imposed as a candidate at this stage.
