Borno Deputy Speaker Backs Ndume for Senate in 2027

Abdullahi Askira, the Deputy Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, has officially withdrawn from the Borno South senatorial race, endorsing his main rival, Ali Ndume, who is seeking re-election for a fifth term. This announcement was made through a statement issued on Wednesday by his media aide, Bilyaminu Nguld, in Abuja.

Askira's decision comes after extensive consultations with party stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress (APC). He expressed his respect for the party's decision to award the senatorial ticket to Ndume and urged support for him across the entire southern senatorial district.

Askira emphasized the importance of party loyalty and unity, calling on constituents to rally behind Ndume. The APC is expected to adopt a consensus arrangement for the candidacy rather than conduct direct primaries, reflecting ongoing internal alignments as they prepare for the 2027 general elections.
