Chanja Datti Launches Plastic Collection Center in Abuja

Chanja Datti Recycling Company has intensified its efforts to promote plastic recycling and environmental responsibility with the launch of a new plastic collection center in Jabi, Abuja. This initiative is part of a renewed effort to advance environmental sustainability and empower the community.

Mr. Gabriel Onyebuoli, representing Chanja Datti, emphasized the importance of a circular economy focused on reducing waste and creating value from recycled materials.

The center, established in partnership with the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), is designed to encourage residents to bring in recyclable plastics in exchange for financial rewards. Common household plastics accepted include PET bottles, HDPE containers, and polypropylene materials.

Miss Martha Eginiwin, from a partnering NGO, highlighted the need for stronger government policies to promote proper waste management practices. The AEPB, represented by Mr.

Sherifat Lawal, is committed to collaborating with stakeholders to ensure successful environmental protection efforts.
