Sahara Foundation Launches Recycling Hubs in Lagos

On the 18th and 19th of the month, Sahara Foundation inaugurated two recycling hubs in Ojodu, Lagos State, as part of its Sahara Go Recycle initiative. This initiative aims to promote responsible waste management, divert recyclable waste from landfills, and improve resource recovery while creating income opportunities for households.

Chidilim Menakaya, Director of Sahara Group Foundation, emphasized the foundation's commitment to long-term environmental and socio-economic impacts. The recycling hubs are strategically located within the community to align with sustainable development priorities.

The event was attended by representatives from Sahara Group, local leaders, and community members, including Olaid Bello and David Odunmbaku. The initiative is expected to facilitate the recycling of 1,000 tons of materials, impacting approximately 2,000 livelihoods directly and indirectly.

Sahara Foundation plans to continue expanding the Sahara Go Recycle initiative across Lagos, aiming to strengthen community participation in recycling and enhance environmental awareness.
