Arewa Youth Council Defends DSS Against Bias Claims

The Arewa Youth Council expressed concern over allegations of religious bias against the Department of State Services (DSS) during a press conference. Spokesman Abdulsamad Ibrahim highlighted that claims regarding the DSS's arrest patterns, particularly those led by Director Oluwatosin Adeola Ajayi, could harm public perception and worsen Nigeria's fragile security situation.

The group emphasized that the DSS operates within a constitutional legal framework and that national security relies heavily on public cooperation. Ibrahim noted that interpreting crime through a religious or ethnic lens allows criminals to evade justice, resulting in innocent citizens suffering the consequences.

He criticized the rapid spread of misinformation on social media, particularly regarding recent arrests of activists, and urged Nigerians to exercise restraint and verify information before dissemination. The council called for unity and constructive engagement with security institutions to build a safer and more stable nation.
