Nigerian Afrobeat artist Rema, known as Divine Ikubor, performed at the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony on Friday night at Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles. He was joined by Lisa from Blackpink and Brazilian superstar Anitta, marking the live debut of their collaborative track "Goal." The performance represented a blend of Afrobeat, K-pop, and Latin pop, fitting for the world's largest sporting event.

Rema wore a striking white hooded outfit and commanded attention during his performance. The track "Goal" is part of the official FIFA World Cup 2026 album, produced by Grammy-winning producer Cirkut, alongside the song "Pink Slip." Rema's performance also included his hit "Calm Down." The ceremony featured other artists, including Nigerian singer Burna Boy and Colombian pop star Shakira, who debuted the tournament's official anthem "Dai Dai." The opening ceremony took place as the tournament kicked off, co-hosted by the United States.
