Omokri Accuses El-Rufai of Involvement in Dadiyata Case

Reno Omokri, a former media aide, has renewed allegations against Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, and his sons regarding the abduction of activist Abubakar Idris, popularly known as Dadiyata. Dadiyata was taken from his residence in Kaduna on August 2, 2019, and has not been seen since.

Omokri referenced past statements made by El-Rufai that suggested a willingness to harm critics, particularly highlighting a statement from December 23, 2019, made by El-Rufai's son, Bashir El-Rufai, which Omokri interpreted as a threat to public safety. Omokri also cited a post from August 2025 where Bashir allegedly threatened social media users.

The case has drawn renewed attention as Nigeria's secret police, the Department of State Services, reopened the investigation into Dadiyata's disappearance. Khadija Ahmad Lame, Dadiyata's wife, expressed her anguish over the situation and appealed for her husband's return.

El-Rufai has denied any involvement in the case, which remains unresolved amid increasing public pressure.
