Nigeria Launches First Renewable Electric Mobility Ecosystem

Rensource Energy and Metropolitan Electric (Metro EV) have signed an agreement to launch Nigeria's first integrated renewable-powered electric mobility ecosystem, commencing on September 1, 2026. This partnership aims to combine renewable energy, electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, battery solutions, and financing into a single platform to enhance electric mobility accessibility for individuals, businesses, and transport operators.

The initiative addresses barriers to electric vehicle adoption, such as high upfront costs and limited charging infrastructure. It will also provide vehicle diagnosis, maintenance, after-sales support, and a credit system based on cash flow for financing.

Dr. Azizat Gbadegesin, CEO of Rensource Energy, stated that the company is prepared to deliver the project based on its experience in renewable energy across Africa. Olugbenga Obadina, CEO of Metropolitan Electric, emphasized the need for effective coordination to expand electric mobility in Nigeria, noting that the country is at a critical stage in its transition to electric mobility.
