Rep Dasuki Calls for Youth Dominance in 2027 Elections

Rep Abdussamad Dasuki, the interim chairman of Futur Initi, called for significant youth participation in the upcoming 2027 general elections, proposing that young Nigerians occupy at least 70% of elected offices. He made this appeal during an address to students at the Federal University Lafia in Nasarawa State, where he highlighted the need for young people to take active roles in governance.

Dasuki recalled the gathering of young leaders in Abuja on October 1, 2025, during Nigeria's 65th Independence Anniversary, where they unveiled a project aimed at transforming governance culture. He argued that young leaders have a better understanding of issues like education, healthcare, and job creation.

Dasuki proposed that 70% of local government chairmanship seats and 50% of federal and state executive appointments should be reserved for young Nigerians. He urged older generations to mentor younger leaders and emphasized the importance of youth engagement in political processes, including policy debates and party participation.

The initiative aims to mobilize and mentor credible youth candidates across political parties.
