Rep Dasuki Advocates 70% Youth Representation in Politics

Rep Dasuki called on Nigerian youth to claim 70% of elective offices during an address at the Federal University Lafia, Nasarawa State. He highlighted the importance of youth in shaping the future of Nigeria, stating that they should no longer accept the label of "leaders of tomorrow." Dasuki urged students to actively participate in politics and public service, recalling a gathering of young leaders in Abuja on October 1, 2022, during Nigeria's 65th Independence Anniversary, where they unveiled a future project aimed at increasing youth representation.

He proposed that at least 70% of local government chairmanship seats and 70% of state assembly seats should be contested by young candidates, along with advocating for 50% of federal and state executive appointments to be reserved for Nigerians aged 40 and below. Dasuki emphasized that this initiative is non-partisan and aims to transform governance culture.

He encouraged older generations to mentor younger leaders and called for youth engagement in political processes, including voting and policy debates.
