Rep Dasuki Warns INEC Threatens Nigeria's Democracy

Rep Dasuki expressed concerns regarding the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stating it is becoming a threat to Nigeria's multi-party democracy. This statement was made during an event in Sokoto, where he officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) after defecting from the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

Dasuki highlighted recent developments in Nigeria's political landscape, indicating coordinated efforts to weaken opposition voices and undermine democratic principles. He specifically criticized INEC's decision not to recognize the leadership of David Mark within the ADC, suggesting it is part of a broader scheme to stifle opposition and dismantle democratic pluralism.

Dasuki warned that such actions could ultimately lead to a one-party state dominated by the All Progressives Congress (APC), which he believes is incapable of fielding credible candidates for the 2027 presidential elections. He called on citizens, civil society organizations, and the international community to remain vigilant and defend democratic institutions in Nigeria.
