Rep Ikwechegh Resigns from APGA Amid Party Crisis

Mascot Ikwechegh, a member of the House of Representatives for the Aba North and Aba South federal constituencies, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). He submitted his resignation letter to the APGA ward chairman of Eziama Ward 1 in Aba North Local Government Area on a Saturday.

In his letter, Ikwechegh expressed gratitude for the opportunities he had while serving in the party and wished it success in future endeavors. However, he did not indicate his next political party choice.

His resignation comes shortly after several local government executives and ward officials also resigned en masse from APGA in Aba North and Aba South. The party has faced significant losses, including the departure of Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, who left the party in December 2025.

When contacted for a reaction, APGA's Abia State chairman, Sunday Onukwubiri, stated that he had not received any communication regarding Ikwechegh's resignation but emphasized that the party remains strong and will continue to thrive despite the exits.
