Repentant Boko Haram Member Kills CJTF Member in Borno

On April 3, 2023, a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), identified as Adamu Ali, aged 25, was shot dead in Mafa, Borno State, during an altercation involving a 'repentant' Boko Haram member. The suspect, Abba Gana, aged 20, was part of the CJTF structure and allegedly used an AK-47 rifle to shoot Ali in the chest.

Following the incident, Ali was rushed to a general hospital in Mafa but was confirmed dead upon arrival. The police have reportedly arrested Gana, and the CJTF command in Mafa is involved in the ongoing investigation.

Security sources have stated that the incident arose from a dispute among the individuals gathered in Mafa town. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Maiduguri has commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
