JAMB Warns Against Overcharging for UTME Registration Fees

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) issued a statement on Friday, highlighting that some report centers are charging candidates above the approved registration fees for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, stated that the approved fees remain N7,200 for UTME without mock and N8,700 for UTME with mock.

JAMB has received credible evidence of overcharging and sharp practices, and it has urged candidates who have paid above the official fees to report these centers promptly. The board emphasized that the fee structure has not changed since 2019, despite rising operational costs, and it retains the fee structure established in 2018.

Candidates are advised to disregard misleading claims about fee increases and to refer to JAMB's official communications for accurate information. The registration period for the 2026 UTME ends on February 28, 2024.
