Ihedioha Considered as Atiku's Running Mate for 2027

Emeka Ihedioha, the former governor of Imo State, is being considered as a potential running mate for Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 elections. Atiku has commenced consultations to select a vice presidential candidate, with a strategic focus on the South East region, which is deemed crucial for the upcoming elections.

Reports indicate that Atiku's consultations are ongoing, and he is evaluating various candidates, including Chibuike Amaechi, a former Minister of Transport. However, sources suggest that Amaechi may not be able to deliver sufficient political support from Rivers State and the wider South South region.

Paul Ib, a special adviser to Atiku, confirmed that consultations regarding the vice presidential slot are ongoing. The ADC aims to conclude these consultations ahead of the deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission for candidate submissions for the 2027 elections.
