17 Million Nigerians Face Acute Hunger, Warns ADC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) expressed grave concern over a report indicating that 17 million Nigerians, including infants and young children, are facing acute hunger, which they describe as a humanitarian crisis. This alarming situation is attributed to a combination of factors, including a spate of banditry, terrorism, and harsh economic policies.

The statement was made in Abuja following a report from the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), which confirmed that Nigeria is experiencing one of its worst food security emergencies in nearly a decade. The report indicates that the number of Nigerians facing acute hunger has increased by almost two million from previous projections, with Borno State alone accounting for three million people in acute food insecurity.

The ADC criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for what they termed "cruel indifference" to the growing humanitarian crisis, emphasizing the urgent need for action to address this dire situation.
