Yiaga Africa Urges INEC to Replicate Osun Election Success

On Sunday, Dr. Asmau Maikudi, the Chairman of the 2026 Osun Election Observation Mission of Yiaga Africa, called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to replicate the successful operational standards demonstrated during the recent Osun gubernatorial election in the 2027 general elections. Maikudi presented a post-election report backed by the European Union (EU), highlighting the importance of applying the Electoral Act 2026 and ensuring transparent result transmission.

She urged INEC to convert lessons learned from the August 15 election into institutional standards, including strengthening quality assurance for sensitive materials and resolving voter data inconsistencies. Recommendations included issuing uniform guidance on downloadable PVCs, conducting a technical audit of BVAS devices, and enhancing the transparency of the INEC Results Viewing (IREV) portal.

Maikudi also emphasized the need for security agencies to maintain neutrality and enforce measures against vote buying, intimidation, and electoral violence.
