Yiaga Africa Confirms Accuracy of Osun Election Results

Yiaga Africa released a preliminary Process and Results Verification for Transparency (PRVT) statement regarding the Osun election conducted on August 15, 2026. The assessment was based on reports from 289 of 300 sampled polling units, representing 96 percent of its sample across the state.

Yiaga deployed 300 observers, including 32 mobile observers and 30 Local Government Area results collation observers, to monitor various electoral processes. The organization stated that the election was a significant test of electoral administration, being the last major governorship election before the 2027 general elections and an early test of the Electoral Act 2026.

Yiaga Africa reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies largely succeeded in logistics and technology deployment. The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) functioned properly in 80 percent of observed polling units, although 11 percent faced issues with voter authentication.

The use of downloadable PVCs was noted, with some voters being denied accreditation. Yiaga urged INEC to provide clear guidance on the acceptance of downloadable PVCs.
