Reps Challenges Jigawa Lawmaker To Prove ₦3 Million Motion, Bill Fee Allegation

A member of the All Progressives Congress in Auyo, Jigawa State, has challenged a lawmaker to prove allegations of demanding a fee of ₦3 million to present a motion or bill. The Jigawa lawmaker, in response to criticism from constituents over perceived inactivity, explained that the fee was part of the process to ensure the proposal passed.

The legislator's statement was issued through the House spokesperson, Akin Rotimi, who warned that the lawmaker would face the ethics panel if unable to substantiate the claim. Rotimi emphasized that the National Assembly follows transparent procedures for introducing bills, motions, and petitions, governed by the Constitution and House Standing Orders.

The statement also highlighted the commitment of the House to fostering mutual respect among members and upholding the dignity of parliament.
