Nigerian Reps Committee Raises Concern Over Audit Delays, Vows to Address Backlog

The Public Account Committee of the Nigerian House of Representatives has raised alarm over the prolonged delays in auditing federal reports. The committee is committed to tackling the longstanding backlog of federal audit reports and has pledged to ensure the submission of audit reports for 2023, 2024, and 2025.

The Chairman of the committee, Salam, disclosed during a retreat in Ghana that the current situation, with the 2019 audit report still pending, is a serious concern. The committee has resolved to convene high-level stakeholder meetings to address the issue immediately.

The retreat also focused on reviewing past activities, assessing achievements, and charting a clearer path for future work. Additionally, the committee consulted with Dr.

Samuel Ibrahim for training sessions to enhance technical and interpersonal skills. The aim is to empower the committee to effectively exercise its constitutional oversight powers.
