Nigerian House of Representatives Probes Airport and Seaport Concessionaires' Performance

The House of Representatives in Nigeria has set up an ad hoc committee to scrutinize the performance of concessionaires overseeing the country's federal air and sea ports between 2006 and 2025. Led by lawmaker Loari Kwamoti, the committee's mandate includes evaluating if the concessions have added value, adhered to contractual obligations, and contributed to economic growth.

The investigation seeks to assess revenue generation for the government, regulatory compliance, safety standards, infrastructure development, and service quality. The committee, chaired by Akinlayo Kolawol, will engage with various stakeholders, including government agencies like the Nigerian Ports Authority and the Nigerian Customs Service, to ensure a thorough review.

The goal is to enhance efficiency, transparency, and the economic impact of Nigeria's port operations.
